Got up and going by 7:30 but hiked slow in the rain. When Dirk and I reached Max Patch Summit, though, the rain had stopped and the sun broke through while we snacked. The view of the Smokies was simply beautiful! We found ourselves smiling at the sight of it. From there I got on a roll and found myself here, a 23 mile day. Not something I plan on doing a lot of, but the time and miles flew by as I walked through the clouds (literally).
